About

Hey there! Welcome to my website.

I’m Suraj Unadkat, a data analyst and a Masters in Finance (concentration in data analytics) student at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I’m originally from Mumbai, India, and have five years of experience in the financial services industry. Over the last few years, I have been fascinated by the sheer magnitude of data that we have at our disposal and how organizations make use of data to make informed decisions.

My first serious Aha! Moment with data started at a pretty young age, when I grew up watching soccer and cricket on television. I was amazed at how much data and facts flashed right in front of my eyes. In 2020, when the world was battling COVID-19, I saw multiple public websites showing real-time information about the spread of the virus. I was stunned to see how quickly and effectively the information was at the tip of everyone’s mouths. With time, I came across a plethora of datasets across multiple platforms on the internet, and this motivated me to set up a career in data analytics.

My functional and technical expertise includes analyzing business problems using big data and business intelligence. Converting data into information can unlock the answers to many questions, help shape strategy, and enable success.

I’m a big sports fanatic and a die-hard supporter of Manchester United and the Ferrari Formula 1 team. I love playing tennis in my leisure and writing blogs on topics around fintech, AI, and crypto. You can view my medium page here.

Feel free to reach out to me to discuss anything related to data.
